Japanese Environmental Ministry calls for a single-use plastic ban in all government facilities
The Ministry of the Environment of Japan has introduced a draft bill that would prohibit the use of single-use plastic from all ministries and government agencies. The bill would require all cafeterias in government buildings to switch to reusable tableware and reassess government contracts and sourcing to ensure compliance. This change comes on the heels of the new targets set by the government to reduce single-use plastics in the country.
