The Australian city of Darwin’s single-use plastic ban in the public sector comes into effect

A ban on all single-use plastic items in the city of Darwin came into effect on the 1st of January 2019. The ban applies to public sector entities, market stalls and events held on public land.  Emma Young, the Alderman of Darwin, noted that the city expects to make wash-stations and water-refill stations more accessible to the general public to accommodate the transition into reusable items.
