City of Bend, Oregon (US) to pass a law banning single-use plastic bags
Bend City Council in the state of Oregon will soon vote on a law on whether or not to ban most plastic bags, establish fines for stores that continue to give them out, and mandate fees for paper bags. The draft law is a result of lobbying from a community group and middle school students from the city. The ordinance is modelled after similar laws passed in Salem city, which we reported on Bringo recently.
