Vietnam’s Phu Quoc island collaborates with WWF to become plastic-free by 2020

The government of Phu Quoc Island in the southern province of Kien Giang has announced plans to become plastic free by 2020. The island, which has been struggling to manage the increasing amount of plastic waste on the island, has been working with the World Wild Fund Vietnam to map out a plan to achieve this goal. The plan will be executed over the next two years, to achieve the island dubbed as the ‘pearl island’ to centre itself as an eco-tourism destination.
