Portland International Airport offers reusable plates and utensils in new environmental programme
In August, Portland International Airport has implemented a new green policy aimed at reducing single-use plastics. According to Port of Portland, this policy is an extension of a successful pilot programme. Staff and customers will be offered reusable plates and utensils, even with to-go menus.
The programme was co-devised by The Oregon Department of Environment Quality in 2017. According to the Port of Portland’s 2016-17 environmental report, there was a 73% reduction in to-go packaging waste, 374 pounds of food waste collected and composed, and 10,000 dishes reused.
