Sainsbury’s has announced plans to replace single-use fruit and vegetables bags in favour of reusable produce bags.

As part of its trial, shoppers will be able to choose their own containers to package the produce or purchase a reusable drawstring bag made from 100 per cent recycled materials for 30p GBP.

The company’s director Judith Batchelar  made the following statement in its press release: “This is just one of the efforts we are making as a business and we look forward to hearing how our customers respond and adapt throughout the trial.”

The plan will go into action at Lincoln and Kidlington stores in September 2019.
