The UK’s biggest cycling festival, RideLondon , has collaborated with Thames Water to eliminate single-use plastic and take better care of the environment.

The collaboration will lead to RideLondon becoming the first mass participation sporting event to eliminate single-use plastic water bottles. In previous years, the sporting event gave out more than 65,000 single-use plastic bottles to its 100,000 participants.

In August 2019, RideLondon will have tanks with water across the refuelling hubs on the cycling course. Steve Spencer, Chief Delivery Officer at Thames Water, said : “London’s tap water is among the best in the world and through our partnership with Prudential RideLondon, we are actively tackling plastic waste by providing tap water along the route.”
