Update: Wellington Airport introduces reusable coffee cup lending scheme 'Again Again'

Wellington Airport has become the first airport in New Zealand to introduce a reusable coffee cup lending scheme. The airport has partnered with social enterprise ‘Again Again’ to launch the scheme across selected cafes at the airport.

The Again Again cups are reusable stainless-steel cups that have a silicone lid. Travellers can borrow the reusable cup at the price of 3 NZD and after use, return it at any of the airport cafes in the Again Again network for a full refund.

Alternatively, they can also return the cups into dedicated receptacles around the airport, donating the 3 NZD to the tree regeneration program ‘Trees that Count’. The cup is then sent back into circulation.

Nicola Cordner, the manager of sustainability and environment at Wellington Airport, said: “This initiative is part of our transition toward eliminating unnecessary single-use items. We recognise airports aren’t the easiest places to bring a reusable cup as people have to plan in advance, remembering to wash and bring their cups each time.”
