Canadian grocery chain Loblaw joins the fight against plastic waste
Canadian grocer Loblaw recently announced a collaboration with Loop - “a technology and licensing company whose mission is to accelerate the world’s shift toward sustainable plastic and away from our dependence on fossil fuels” - to reduce plastic waste. The two companies will be introducing a new pilot program in Toronto in 2020 that will allow shoppers to have products in reusable containers delivered to their doorstep.
Galen Weston, Execute Chairman at Loblaw, said: “Our industry is part of the problem and we can be part of the solution. Our partnership with Loop is a powerful example of entrepreneurial innovators working with like-minded large enterprise to bring a meaningful solution to a real problem.”
