Supermarket giant Morrisons trialled the ‘buy bagless’ scheme at its Skipton, Guiseley, and St Ives stores in 2018. After 'buy bagless’ proved to be a success, the grocer said that it intends to roll out the scheme across its sixty stores in the UK.

Customers are encouraged to bring their own reusable containers they can use to carry their produce. Morrisons eliminated single-use plastic bags from its stores back in 2018. The paper bags that are in the stores now are fully recyclable and biodegradable.

This initiative is part of Morrisons’ pledge to reduce its annual plastic footprint by 9,000 tonnes by 2025.
