Whole Foods to ban plastic straws in all of its domestic stores

Beginning in July 2019, Whole Foods will eliminate plastic straws in its 500 domestic stores. Instead, the company will be offering paper straws that are both recyclable and compostable at its coffee and juice bars. Whole Foods will still be providing plastic straws to customers with disabilities upon request.

Whole Foods officials stated that the move will make the grocery chain the first in the US to ban plastic straws. The company stopped providing single-use plastic bags at its checkouts in 2008.
