California lawmakers to ban hotel shampoo and conditioner bottles
Citing plastic waste, lawmakers in California are hoping to ban mini bottles of lotions, shampoos and conditioners from hotels. This ban will encourage hotels to take a more sustainable approach and switch to dispensers for the liquids. It could also reduce operating costs in the future.
Some hotels, such as Marriott International, have already moved away from the disposable single-use plastics. In 2018, they replaced all of their plastic bottles with dispensers in their hotels.
California has already taken steps to reduce the increase of single-use plastics. Earlier, the city of Santa Cruz imposed this prohibition in their city.
