The Government of Jammu and Kashmir imposed a ban in late March 2019 on the non-biodegradable disposable items being used in day-to-day usage. The Department of Forest, Environment and Ecology issued a notification ordering a complete ban on the disposable items made of non-biodegradable material, such as disposable plates, cups, bowls, tumblers, spoons, forks and knives. The order will come into full effect one month after its publication in the Gazette of India.
