UK department store Selfridges no longer sells plastic fizzy drinks bottles

Plastic fizzy drinks bottles have been removed from sale by UK department store Selfridges, as part of a campaign to reduce ocean pollution.

Selfridges switched all carbonated drinks to cans and glass bottles at its stores in London, Birmingham and Manchester this week. Last year it sold half a million drinks in plastic bottles. The retailer, the first to make such a move, said that it wanted “to inspire the whole of the UK to follow suit”. In 2015 Selfridges became one of the first to stop selling water in plastic bottles.
