Deliveroo, too, will offer opt-in button for plastic cutlery
Deliveroo UK has set out steps to dramatically reduce the amount of plastic packaging that its takeaway meals are transported in. The food delivery firm is persuading manufacturers to start producing more alternatives to polluting plastics, and using its purchasing power to buy up a wider range of sustainable packaging, making it more affordable for its restaurants to use.
Also, as of this week, users will also find an extra button on its app where they will have to opt-in if they want disposable cutlery (it's a 'trend': Just Eat UK is now offering a similar option).
Matthew Ford, a manager at London eatery The Diner, has been trialling not including cutlery with his restaurant's Deliveroo orders. "It's worked really well, we saw an immediate impact, 90% of our customers chose to not opt-in cutlery." More at Sky News.
