Henkel Singapore employees embrace 'bring your own' as part of climate action pledge

Henkel Singapore, part of the German consumer goods company behind brands like Schwarzkopf and Persi, is contributing to Singapore’s 2018 Year of Climate Action by 100% employee engagement, school and community projects, and a move to solar energy use.

While the list of activities and plans is long, what stood out for Bringo, is Henkel Singapore's 120+ staff pledge, which include the ‘Bring Your Own Cup’ initiative, aiming to eliminate the use of 18,000 paper cups and 5,000 plastic water bottles, and a ban on plastic bottled water altogether by 1 June.

Our take: virtually every organisation, anywhere in the world, could kick off similar initiatives within weeks (days?), and it would result in a double win if employees then also mirror Bring Your Own behaviour in their 'consumer' lives.
Case in point: Henkel Singapore also launched a campaign to encourage employees to set up a recycling corner at home. As an incentive, employees who share pictures of their home recycling corners will each receive a SG$ 20 CapitaLand voucher. More at Human Resources Online
