Hawaii-based handcrafted shave ice company The Fresh Shave eliminates single-use plastics

Hawaii-based handcrafted shave ice company, The Fresh Shave, has taken yet another step toward becoming environmentally friendly. The company has been serving paper cups and wooden spoons since 2014, and starting this week, it will eliminate the use of all single-use plastics, with the addition of paper straws, starting with their original location on Kauai.

After months of research and testing, the owners selected a paper straw made in the United States from sustainably-managed forests. The Fresh Shave expects to substitute nearly 36,000 plastic straws per year in its Kauai store, alone. More at The Garden Island.
