Indian authorities now enforcing plastic bag ban in Hyderabad

Despite a ban on plastic bags of less than 50 microns, usage remains high in the city of Hyderabad, India. The authorities have now begun cracking down on errant establishments to curb the plastic menace, collecting various fines this week. Deputy commissioners, entomology staff and community resource persons are now also visiting shops to spread awareness about the hazardous effects of banned plastic usage on the environment.
