The UK Government to ban plastic straws, drinks stirrers, and cotton buds

The Government of UK has set out its plan to ban the distribution and sale of plastic straws, drinks stirrers, and cotton buds. The ban would come into force at some point between October 2019 and October 2020. The government will start consulting various stakeholders on concerns and views on the implementation in the coming months. The Government noted that concerning accessibility, where plastics are the only viable option would be taken into due care. The government also recently implemented a ban on microbeads and a fee on plastic bags.
