New York-based DeCicco & Sons supermarket chain phases out single-use plastic bags

DeCicco & Sons, a chain of family-owned supermarkets in Hudson Valley, New York, will eliminate all single-use plastic bags from all seven of its stores in the month of November 2018. The company announced that the supermarkets will sell paper bags for customer’s convenience, but will encourage them to bring reusable bags when they come shopping at the supermarket. The supermarkets will also provide an incentive by providing credit to customers who bring their own bag.
