City of Cagayan de Oro in the Philippines bans single-use plastic bags

Cagayan de Oro, on the Island of Mindanao, announced that the city would ban single-use plastic bags. Vice Mayor of the city, Joaquin Uy, passed an ordinance known as the City-Wide Plastic Bag Regulation, which will prohibit the use of single-use plastic bags within the city. The ordinance is set to come into effect in January 2019.
