US retail company Kroger Co. to eliminates single-use plastic bags

One of the largest retail grocers in the US, Kroger Co., will eliminate plastic shopping bags from its more than 2,800 company-owned supermarkets by 2025. The company is set to initially roll out the changes in its subsidiary chain, Quality Food Centers (QFC) in the Pacific Northwest, before moving to the rest of its stores. The supermarkets and Kroger’s subsidiaries reportedly use an estimated 6 billion single-use plastic bags annually.
