Delta Airlines announces plans to remove single-use plastics from its flights

US airliner Delta has announced plans to phase out single-use plastic items from their flights. Delta notes that the move will include getting rid of straws, stir sticks, wrappers and utensils. According to Delta, the plan will see plastic straws and stirrers being replaced with bamboo straws and stir sticks. The phase-out is set to come into effect in mid-2019, affecting 180 million flights each year.
