Narberth Borough in Pennsylvania, US, bans single-use plastic bags & straws along with state-wide restrictions on straws
The borough of Narberth in Montgomery County has pushed a legislation that bans single-use plastic bags & straws. The borough’s citizens will have to bring their own reusable bags, and food and beverage establishments are expected to find alternative solutions to single-use straws. A structure of penalties is also included in the ordinance that will begin with a warning and reaching up to 500 USD in fines.
The borough ban was followed by a state-wide legislation that bans the automatic distribution of single-use plastic straws and bags by Pennsylvania restaurants. Customers who require plastic straws are still able to request them.
