Wetaskiwin City in Alberta, Canada, bans single-use plastic bags

The councillors at the Wetaskiwin City has unanimously decided to ban single-use plastic bags starting next summer. Grocery shops among other retailers will have to sort to alternative products or systems to facilitate the ban. The ban will come into effect on the 9th of July 2019, and after 1st June 2020, stores also are mandated to start charging at least 0.15 CAD per single-use paper bags.
