McDonald’s in New Zealand to phase out single-use plastic straws with a fibre-based option
The operations in McDonald’s New Zealand will now only provide straws on request. This change in policy will take place throughout the 167 restaurants in New Zealand, starting 17th October 2018. Along with this change, the company will also trial a fibre-based straw as a replacement option to eliminate plastic straws from their operations.
