The University of Manitoba is providing free reusable cups to curb single-use cups
The University of Manitoba’s Office of Sustainability is hosting a campaign with various initiatives to promote sustainable living throughout the month of October 2018. As part of the campaign, the office has paid special attention to the single-use plastic waste the campus generates, as the campus is responsible to some 1.19 million single-use disposable cups being thrown away annually. Volunteers have built a ‘cup mountain’ using part of this waste to visualise the effect of student’s habits and have started providing students with free reusable cups. The students will also be able to get free coffee between 18th and 19th if they bring a reusable mug.
