New Delhi IGI airport to go single-use plastic-free by the end of 2019

India’s busiest airport Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi has announced that the airport will be plastic-free by the end of 2019. The airport already started the process of phasing out single-use grocery bags, food packaging, bottles, straws, containers, cups and cutlery. The airport authorities have concurrently initiated a campaign to raise awareness, enhance waste management systems and promote alternatives to single-use plastics.
