Queretaro City (Mexico) to ban plastic bags per April 2018

Queretaro City is one of Mexico’s industrial capitals, and the first municipality in the country to ban plastic bags (April 2018). The plastic bag ban will crack down on any local merchants who continue to provide these disposable bags to their customers, with punishments varying from confiscation of the bags, to a refusal to renew business licenses. Queretaro’s plastic bag ban comes nine years (!) after a similar effort in Mexico City failed – in the face of manufacturers’ protest. More at CTGN.
