Twelve restaurants in the US town of Blacksburg pledge to cut down on plastic straws

Twelve restaurants in the Virginia town of Blacksburg have pledged to phase out single-use plastic straws. The restaurants will instead resort to alternative reusable straws or go without them entirely. The restaurants will stock plastic straws to cater to individuals with disabilities, which will be provided upon request. The number of restaurants pledging to phase out plastic straws is expected to grow in the coming month.
