Portuguese airline Hi Fly completes world’s first single-use-plastic-free-flight

The Portuguese airline Hi Fly completed the world’s first ever single-use-plastic-free-flight on the 26th of December 2018, from Lisbon to Natal (Brazil), without creating any single-use plastic waste. The flight was the first of three test runs, which are part of the company’s plans to become single-use plastic-free by the end of 2019. The airliner announced that it will test various alternatives such as bamboo cutlery, compostable food containers and other plant-based packaging materials in the coming test runs.
